Occupy The Tory Conference
Going on all week from 9am on Friday until 9pm on 10th October. Outside the Conference venue. There's also Road Blocker, aiming to occupy four roads into Manchester with music, dance and carnival events.
Evening
Beats For The Streets
Twelve hours of `creative rebellion' with the free sounds of Dub, Jungle, D n' B and Reggae. Bring a tent. 6pm-6am Piccadilly Gardens.
Love Music Hate Racism
Spoken word, beat boxing and DJs...with hosts Chris Jam and Mic Bytes, and Drase, Bane Soul:ution, Audio Heroine, Sir Robin Longshot, Cabinet of Millionaires, Loggi and Whiney M. Tickets £10/£5 all proceeds to refugees in Calais.

SATURDAY 3rd OCTOBER

March Against Austerity hits Salford
The People's March Against Austerity, which began in Wirral, hits Salford in the afternoon, with legs from Boothstown to Worsley to Eccles. There's also a social
at Mr Smiths in Eccles at night but no details*. Then on the Sunday 4th the marchers will meet with the Salford bloc outside Salford Museum and Art Gallery for the march into Manchester.

The Headscarf Revolutionaries
Brian Lavery talks about his book, The Headscarf Revolutionaries: Lillian Bilocca and the Hull Triple-Trawler Disaster, which recounts the winter of 1968 when three trawlers from Hull's fleet sank in rapid succession. One fishwife, Lillian Bilocca, sickened that men died because the authorities failed to bring in the shipping laws that could have saved them. In a few weeks she roused her community and shook the government. Hilda Palmer from the Greater Manchester Hazards Centre will also talk about her work at the Centre and current campaigns. Organised by the Mary Quaile Club.

National demo No to Austerity - Yes to Workers Rights
People from Salford will join other campaigners outside Salford Museum and Art Gallery at 11am for a march into Manchester, to join the main protest which begins at Oxford Road at noon.
