Live From Worktown and Bolton Socialist Club present:  Whitman Day

11.00 -12.30 16 Wood St. BL1 1DY
Brunch/Lunch provided by Gordon and Helen. Note the earlier time to enable people to get to the Whitman Walk in plenty of time.

Whitman Walk.
Meet at Barrow Bridge bus terminus. Wear the lavender, walk on to Smithills Moor, read Whitman's verse, sup from the loving cup, toast to "loving comradeship," reward yourself with tea and scones and Brian Hey Farm at the end of the walk.

7.30 at Bolton Socialist Club
An evening with Walt.

UKIP and Tories in the England, the SNP in Scotland, the glorious referendum in Ireland! Seems as good a time as any to explore Whitman's legacy and the values we associate with him.

With contributions from Whitman scholar Michael Robertson via trans-Atlantic link up, and San Francisco bookseller, activist and Whitman advocate Joey Cain in person. There will be a number of "open mic" slots (but not necessarily a mic)  for Whitman and related readings. Please contact Stuart Murray or Chris Chilton to book a slot.

Please note: The curry night previoously advertised for Friday is cancelled due to illness.
