Jack Entwhistle, a long-standing member and friend of the club, died in the early hours of 7th January. He will be much missed and our deepest sympathies go to his wife, Dorothy, and his daughter Alison at this very sad time.

BANNER MAKING

Throughout the year there will be Banner making on Saturday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm and the choir will mee every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 2pm to 4pm.

Fri 22 Jan: RED CINEMA 'Looking For Eric' 2009. Ken Loach. A Manchester postman at a low point in his life looks for help. He is 'visited' in his dreams by Eric Cantona. A bitter sweet film, one of Loach's funniest!


Fri 29 Jan: RED FRIDAY ‘BASQUE CHILDREN IN BOLTON’ A second chance to see the film about child refugees from the Spanish Civil War. Charles Jepson & Stuart Walsh tell the story of those who came to Bolton.

Fri 12 Feb: MUSIC NIGHT Join in with Steve and Dave.

Fri 19 Feb: RED CINEMA 'The Bicycle Thieves' 1948 dir. Vittorio De Sica. An example of Italian neo-realist cinema. The slight human drama of the theft of a bicycle, is developed giving it the force of a King Lear. Compelling both in vivid background and superb acting.

Club open for membership renewal on Friday nights and Saturday dinner. Subs can be paid up until 15 minutes before the meeting. Deadline for acceptance of resolutions / nominations for Officers and Committee: 2pm Saturday 20 Feb. Nominations open Monday 8 Feb. Nominations form on the club notice board.


Fri 26 Feb: RED FRIDAY ‘THE SPIRIT LEVEL’. Chris Chilton discusses Richard Wilkinson and Kate Picket’s book—’why more equal societies almost always do better’.


Fri 5 Mar: THE PLAY GROUP Informal play reading. 8pm

Fri 12 Mar: RED CINEMA 'The Fall' 2006. dir. Tarsem Singh. Set in Los Angeles of the 1920's, an injured stuntman meets a young child in hospital. What follows is a wonderful set of adventures that mixes fact and fiction.

Fri 19 Mar: THE PLAY GROUP Informal play reading. 8pm

Fri 26 Mar: RED FRIDAY ‘PAUL ROBESON’ Dave Mann explores the great singer’s politics and plays some of his songs.
