To mark May Day weekend the play reading group will perform a reading of Maxine’s play about the occupation of Parkside Colliery in the 1990s by a group of women led by Anne Scargill. Recently performed on BBC radio to great acclaim. Guaranteed to be a lively evening, and maybe a surprise or two!

Friday 9th May 8.00 pm Bolton Socialist Club – a History
It’s 30 years this week that the club reopened its doors following the near demise in 1984. The evening will be a celebration of the clubs history, survival against the odds and its continuing focus for political activity n the town. Bring your own recollections, reminiscences and rebellious tales!

Delaine La Bas and Barby Asante designed and curated the “To Gypsyland” exhibition currently running at Bolton Museum. Delaine and Barby will talk about the exhibition and more widely about Roma history, culture, persecution and resilience. This will be a great opportunity to peer into a world of which we see and hear very little in the mainstream media. Don’t miss it!
