Friday May 2nd 7.30 pm (for 8.00 start) Maxine Peake’s ‘Queens of the Coal Age.’
To mark May Day weekend the play reading group will perform a reading of Maxine’s play about the occupation of Parkside Colliery in the 1990s by a group of women led by Anne Scargill. Recently performed on BBC radio to great acclaim. Guaranteed to be a lively evening, and maybe a surprise or two!
It's 30 years this week since the club re-opened in 1984. One of the key players in that campaign was Neil Duffield, who recently stood down after twenty years as Chair of the club. I'm sure many of you will want to join us on Friday when we pay tribute to Neil's huge contribution to the club by bestowing an honorary life membership.
