Bolton CND and Stop The War campaigns will be laying a wreath of white poppies at the ceremony in the Town Hall Square on Sunday. The tradition of laying a wreath of white poppies was started by some years ago by WW2 veteran and peace campaigner Bertie Lewis, who fought for many years for the right to do this in the official remembrance ceremony. It has become an important local tradition that is not replicated in many other places. Anyone who wishes to bear witness to the wreath laying should meet at Cook's in the square at 10.30. White poppies will also be available, price 50p.
The Armistice Tour Featuring Joe Solo & Rebecca Findlay plus The Crows of Albion
Two shows to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice. No ordinary 'celebration' of the Great War but songs with first person portraits of the trenches that pull no punches, and a reminder that a hundred years on, the promise of a “land fit for heroes” remains unfulfilled.
Free entry. Donations in support of homeless welcome
