Creative writing in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. This month’s workshop is led this month by Whitman Scholar Kirsten Harris, Senior Teaching Fellow at Warwick University, who will explore aspects of Whitman’s life as stimulus to new writing.

Pete (The Poet) Stevenson was so impressed with Bolton when he appeared at the Wigan Diggers curtain-raiser last year that he’s heading back up from Somerset to co-organise and host this event. Scheduled acts include Claire Mooney, Dave Puller, The Clarion Choir, Bard Company and Pete the Poet himself. Food will be available.

Better Buses For Manchester
Better Buses for Manchester is a campaign calling on GM Mayor Andy Burnham to improve our buses and bring them under public control. While trains and trams get a lot of attention, buses make up nearly 80% of public transport journeys in Greater Manchester.
Monthly meet-up for the local poetry and spoken word group. A very informal and supportive atmosphere, and open to all. NW legends Jefferama and Gordon Zola lead proceedings.

A woman’s life is thrown into turmoil following the death of her partner. Mourning the loss of the man she loved, she finds herself under intense scrutiny from those with no regard for her privacy.

A Vote and a Voice
We’re delighted this year to welcome as our speaker Julie Lamara from Bolton Central Library. She will show a short film and talk about the work she and other researchers did leading up to the centenary celebrations of partial women’s suffrage last year. The team discovered fascinating details of the activities of several local women – among them Florence Blinkoe, Sarah Reddish and Alice Collinge – who were involved not just in the suffrage campaign but in many other activities to further the rights of women.
